Experiences

Stay longer,
see more

Days on the estate and lake, short trips into neighbouring regions, and a concierge who can plan and book whatever else you want to do while you are here.

A four- to twelve-week stay gives you time. Weekdays can be quiet work and homestead living; weekends can open into Matopos, Gonarezhou, the Eastern Highlands, and other neighbouring regions, or stay close and enjoy the water and walks at Woodlands.

Vehicle hire is available alongside your stay: a Nissan Xtrail SUV for everyday use, or a camping-equipped 4x4. Hire is booked weekly; see rates for current pricing.

Short trips

Areas worth visiting

Use Woodlands as a base for weekend or three- to four-night trips. These are the regions guests most often ask about, each close enough to return to your house, not pack up the stay.

Granite hills of Matobo

Matopos

Granite whalebacks, ancient rock art, and open skies south of Bulawayo. Ideal for hiking, cultural days, and quiet overnight stays among the hills.

Guided walk near rhinos in Gonarezhou

Gonarezhou

Vast wilderness in the south-east: elephant country, dramatic cliffs, and long game-viewing days. Best as a short safari from your Woodlands base.

Eastern Highlands mountain landscape

Eastern Highlands

Cooler air, pine forests, and mountain walks toward Mutare and the border highlands. A change of climate and pace from the lowveld lake.

Beitbridge and southern border country

Beitbridge & surrounds

Southern routes and border-country days, useful for guests connecting further south, or exploring the Limpopo corridor without leaving Zimbabwe for long.
